Message and i've been wondering about this for awhile without coming to a satisfying conclusion.

This is for an avc-r, if that makes any difference.

Prior to hitting the target boost, is the wastegate solenoid totally open (ie, operating at 100% duty), so that no positive pressure goes to the wastegate actuators? Or is it operating at whatever duty you have it set for, based on rpm and gear?

Also, is the boost linearly related to the duty cycle? For example, my native boost (bc off) is 12.5 psi, 14.2 psi is 33%, and 17psi is 47%. Would 20 psi be a linear extrapolation for that, or is it more of an exponential? Or to put it differently, would 100% duty be 21.5 psi, or higher/lower? It seems to me that it would be somewhat exponential (and the numbers above seem to suggest that), but i thought i'd ask just to make sure.

As an aside, the rpm based self learning curve that adjusts duty for a preset boost level is very cool, esp. with the large wastegate flappers on the sport 530s and no exhaust restrictions... they hold a solid 17 psi to redline, because the avc-r bumps up the duty a few percent past 5500 rpm to put some more tension back into the wastegate actuator sping.
